BlackBerry 10 L-Series phone image emerges online
A new image has surfaced showing a bit more of the all-touch handset as well as a part of the bezel in tow.

New Delhi: Over the past couple of days, there have been quite a few leaks regarding the upcoming BlackBerry 10 handsets by Research in Motion (RIM). A few days back, a video had surfaced showing the method of inserting a SIM card into a BlackBerry 10 handset. The handset's name is apparently Liverpool, and it is said to feature in the brand's L-series of BlackBerry 10 handsets. Now, a new image has surfaced, this time showing a bit more of the all-touch handset as well as a part of the bezel in tow.

The image comes courtesy of N4BB, and the author sates, "We just got sent this image of the first BlackBerry 10 smartphone. This device is what we outed as the BlackBerry 10 L-Series, which will launch first then followed by the N-Series."

As of now, details are scarce regarding the specifications of the handset. Since the video had popped up earlier, one thing can be confirmed is that this device will be powered by a 1800mAh LS1 battery. The report goes on to state that this L-Series handset will be dressed in gun-metal and they comment that it will look similar to the iPhone 5.

They go on to add, "Quick look through the apps, you can see BBM, DocsToGo, Facebook, and the most interesting: StoryMaker. We're guessing this will be the equivalent of iMovie (but don’t quote us on it). Additionally, we see the many different panes for apps, with the grid icon being the window for the last four apps opened."

The BlackBerry 10 OS is the brand’s big re-entry into the smartphone sphere and one of the major talking points about it is the display. RIM recently made a blog post on the BlackBerry developer blog about the screen resolution the next version of BlackBerry OS will use. The developer alpha devices running BlackBerry 10 that have been handed to some developers run on a screen resolution of 1280 x 768. The blog says, "Let's just go on record and confirm that this will be the screen resolution shipped with the first BlackBerry 10 full touch device."

RIM chief executive Thorsten Heins has mentioned that full touch isn’t going to be the only BlackBerry device with BlackBerry 10. The company is also going to continue with its keyboard phone line-up with a screen resolution of 720 x 720. RIM is confirming that it is standardising the resolutions for its BlackBerry 10 devices with 720 x 720 (1:1 aspect ratio) and 1280 x 720 (16:9 aspect ratio).

While these are the resolutions that will be standard for devices moving forward, the first device is still slated to run on a resolution of 1280 x 768. The developer blog has two suggestions for developers making fullscreen apps for the OS. Developers can either "modify their application for each resolution to make use of the full resolution of the different BlackBerry 10 device screen resolutions", or they should "consider “letter boxing” their app to 1280 x 720 on the first BlackBerry 10 device, leaving 24 pixels on both sides of the screen, so that they don’t have any changes to make on the next generation full touch screen resolution."
