KOCHI/ALAPPUZHA: BJP leader L K Advani on Saturday said that his party would demand a white paper to be tabled in Parliament during the winter session on how the government proposes to bring back the black money stashed in Swiss banks. “The Prime Minister, during the 2009 elections, had said that he would bring back the money deposited in foreign banks in 100 days. But, as of now, 700 days have passed and nothing has happened,” the BJP leader said while speaking at a meet organised as part of the Jan Chetana Yatra in Kochi. “How many people know how much wealth is there in foreign banks belonging to India. Not less than Rs 25 lakh crore is stashed away in Swiss banks,”Advani said and added that the BJP would suggest the government to invest the money in the villages and not in the cities. “Once the money is invested in the villages, the country side would change overnight. I assure that then there will be no village without electricity, water, dispensaries and all basic necessities”, he said. Addressing a similar function at Chertala, he said the Centre was trying to protect the people who have deposited black money in Swiss banks. “The Congress-led government is the most corrupt one the country ever had. Corruption stories are coming out one after the other. The aim of the Jan Chetana Yatra is to educate people about the failure of the government in preventing corruption,” Advani said.Senior BJP leaders Ananth Kumar, Ravi Shankar Prasad and Muraleedhara Rao, BJP state president V Muraleedharan, national executive members P K Krishnadas, and former BJP state president S Sreedharan Pillai were present at both the functions.
