Chennai: AVM Productions, which has catered to audiences for over four decades on the big screen across multiple languages, now plans to roll out content exclusively for internet users.
AVM has come up with a 55-minute Tamil film titled 'Idhuvum Kadandhu Pogum', completely for netizens.
"The internet is the future and since we find its reach incredible, we plan to release the content exclusively for its users. Currently, we are targeting YouTube, Amazon and Netflix, among other online portals," Aparna Guhan, co-producer of the film, told IANS.
Aparna has co-produced the film with her twin sister Aruna Guhan. The sisters belong to the fourth generation of the AVM clan.
"Internet is fast becoming a great medium to access television and film content. We don't intend to roll out content for the internet on a large scale as we are testing the waters currently. We plan to produce feature films as well," said Aparna.
Directed by Anil Krishnan and Srihari Prabhakaran, 'Idhuvum Kadandhu Pogum' features Sivaji Dev, Ravi Raghavendhar and Shilpa Bhat in important roles.
AVM has so far produced over 100 feature films over the last four decades. Some of their best films include 'Bhookailas', 'Parasakthi', 'Kalathur Kannamma' and 'Server Sundaram'.
In Hindi, AVM has produced memorable classics such as 'Bhabhi', 'Chhaya' and 'Pooja Ke Phool'.
