At least 2 policemen killed in Maoist attack in Jharkhand
The encounter took place when joint paramilitary forces of the state police patrolling the Chattarpur area confronted with an armed Maoist squad in Jharkhand.

Jharkhand: At least three people including two policemen were reportedly killed in a gunbattle with Naxals on Wednesday evening in Palamu district in Jharkhand.

The incident took place at the Maoist hotbed in Chattarpur area. The encounter took place when joint paramilitary forces of the state police patrolling in the area and confronted with an armed Maoist squad.

Palamu DIG Saket Kumar Singh along with superintendent of police with a large contingent of police force rushed to the spot.

"Two of our troops have been martyred. The van driver was also ambushed. We have launched a massive combing operation in the area," police source said.

The jawans, who were killed sustained bullet injuries and more information is awaited.

Meanwhile, three Maoists were killed in an encounter with the police in Dantewada district of south Chhattisgarh on Wednesday.
