Over 200 students, all budding artists, are set to showcase their artworks at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts.

New Delhi: Over 200 students, all budding artists, are set to showcase their artworks at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts.

Beginning October 9, the show titled 'Prarambh' features nearly 350 artworks in diverse mediums such as drawing, painting, printmaking, illustrations, digital art, sculpture, photography, installation, new media and mix media.

Organised by Art Route, which specialises in development, promotion and education of art, the festival is being billed as the country's first students' art festival.

The show is set to continue till October 12.

Participating students are from art colleges from across the country, including Kala Bhavan, Visva Bharati University from Shantiniketan, College of Art and Jamia Milia Islamia University from Delhi, the Faculty of Visual Arts (BHU), Department of Fine Arts (Kurukshetra University), Department of Fine Arts Aligarh Muslim University), Indira Kala Sangeet Visva Vidyalaya (Chhatisgarh), College of Arts and Crafts (Lucknow University); Government College of Arts (Chandigarh), College of Fine Arts (Thiruvananthapuram) Faculty of Fine Arts (MSU, Baroda).

Among others include Department of Visual Arts (Silchar), International Institute of Fine Arts (Modinagar), College of Arts and Crafts (Kolkata), Government Institute of Fine Arts (Gwalior) Government Fine Arts Institute (Indore) and Department of Fine arts (University of Hyderabad).

The Art Route has been co-founded by Gurgaon-based Lubna Sen, a management graduate and an art collector.

Ujjwal Ankur a Delhi based artist who hails from Muzaffarpur, Bihar is the other co-founder. His artworks are in the collection of prominent galleries.
