In a bid to counter the increasing incidents of terror activities in the country, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs in association with the US Embassy in India has decided to give special training to selected policemen from different states on advanced methods to conduct investigation in terror cases.
The training would be given by the experts from the US security agencies which are probing various terror related cases. According to sources, the training would be imparted to police officers, officers serving in the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and Intelligence officers. “The course named ‘Interviewing Terror Suspects (ITS)’ will be conducted by the US Embassy. It focuses on developing skills to conduct non-coercive interviews with the terror suspects and investigation on terror cases. This will enhance the skills of the investigators in information gathering,” the sources said.
The course will also include lessons on human rights and effective communication skills.
Besides, trainees will have to identify potential challenges in implementing the investigation methods at their respective agencies and develop strategies to overcome them. The course would start by the end of this month.
