Srisailam holds immense ancient significance, as described in the Puranas. It houses the revered Mallikarjuna Swamy Lingam, counted among the 12 Jyotirlingas, and the Sri Bhramaramba Devi temple, listed as the 6th Maha Shakti Peetha. Srisailam stands out uniquely as the only temple where both these icons reside within the same premises. According to legend, when Goddess Parvati asked Lord Shiva about his most cherished place apart from Kailasa, he chose the eternal beauty of Srisailam, nestled amidst picturesque nature and embodying the divine Sri Chakra. In this significant locale, Shiva and Shakti manifest as Sri Mallikarjuna Bhramaramba to shower blessings upon their devotees.
