Andhra and Telangana Floods: From Chiranjeevi to Allu Arjun and Sonu Sood, Big Names Come Forward to Help
Actors Balakrishna, Mahesh Babu and Junior NTR, too, have made a contribution of Rs 1 crore each while Trivikram and team have committed Rs 50 lakh.

The twin Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have been reeling under the impact of severe floods. The state governments of both the states have been trying to provide maximum rescue and relief to the locals. Along with the local administration of both states, several big names have now come forward to help people in these times.

Several prominent citizens, especially stars from the southern film industry, have come forth to offer their support to the people of their states. As per sources, it has been learnt that mega star Chiranjeevi has donated Rs 1 crore each for both the states as has his son Ram Charan.

Mega star Allu Arjun has also contributed Rs 1 crore towards flood relief. Actors Balakrishna, Mahesh Babu and Junior NTR, too, have made a contribution of Rs 1 crore each while Trivikram and team have committed Rs 50 lakh. Contributions have also come from Vyjayanthi Movies (Rs 50 lakh), Siddhu Jonnalagadda (Rs 30 lakh), Vishwak Sen (Rs 10 lakh) and Venky Atluri (Rs 10 lakh).

Bahubali star Prabhas has donated Rs 2 crore towards flood relief, so has actor Sonu Sood, who spent a significant part of his career in the Telugu film industry before embracing Bollywood and is known for his contribution in times of crisis. The Akkineni family led by Nagarjuna has also committed Rs 1 crore.

In fact, Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, who is also a popular actor and younger brother to megastar Chiranjeevi, too, has donated Rs 1 crore each to the two states. In addition, he will also give Rs 4 crore to 400 panchayats (1 lakh for each panchayat that are affected).

It is not just film stars, but prominent citizens like former vice president of India M Venkaiah Naidu have also donated towards the two states affected by floods. Not only did Naidu speak to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking his assistance for both the states and maximum support from the Centre, but he also made a humble contribution from his pension towards flood relief. He contributed an individual amount of Rs 5 lakh each to both the states. Apart from this, his family members also contributed to the CM Relief Fund in both states.

Naidu’s son M Harshvardhan contributed Rs 2.5 lakh to each state on behalf of the Muppavarapu Foundation. The former Vice President’s daughter Deepa Venkat donated Rs 2.5 lakh each to the CM Relief Funds of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh respectively, on behalf of the Swarna Bharat Trust.

Sitting member of Parliament from Anakapalli, Dr CM Ramesh, has also announced a contribution of Rs 1 crore to Andhra Pradesh. “People of Vijayawada are facing immense hardship due to the floods, with severe damage occurring. The government is mobilizing all its resources and taking measures to provide assistance. To support the flood-affected individuals and stand by the government’s efforts, my family members will be handing over our donation of *one crore* rupees to Andhra Pradesh CM Shri Nara Chandrababu Naidu Garu,” Ramesh said in a statement.

Dr Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, MoS in the Modi government, has also committed to rescue and relief operations in the state through his foundation. The workers on ground hav been trying to provide relief material to those stranded due to floods, especially in his home district Guntur.

The Union Minister took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce, “Under the Pemmasani Foundation, relief efforts for the flood victims are going on fast. On behalf of the foundation, Pemmasani Ravishankar distributed rugs and water cans to more than 2,000 victims in the rehabilitation centres of Venkatapalem, Thallayapalem, Lingayapalem, Rayapudi and Harishchandrapuram villages in Guntur district.”

At least 33 people, 16 in Telangana and 17 in Andhra Pradesh, have been killed in rain-related incidents and floods.
