New Delhi: In good news for economy class passengers, Air India will allow free check-in baggage up to 25 kg in domestic flights for a limited period starting on Wednesday.
The national carrier on Tuesday said the offer would be in place for passengers travelling during the period from August 12 to February 7, 2016.
Air India on Tuesday said passengers travelling in the economy class on its domestic sectors would "now get an enhanced free
check-in baggage allowance of 25 kg making it the only airline in the country to do so".
At present, those travelling in Air India's economy class can carry up to 20 kg of free check-in baggage.
During the offer period, infants would get a free check-in baggage allowance of 10 kg. Those who have booked tickets before August 12 can also avail the offer.
"Passengers travelling on Alliance Air flights and connecting to Air India flights and vice versa, will also be eligible for this offer. However, this offer will not be available for passengers travelling exclusively on Alliance Air flights," the carrier said in a statement.
The free baggage allowance of the international sector would be applicable for passengers travelling on Air India domestic sectors and connecting to the carrier's international sectors.
