Ten persons arrested in connection with communal clashes were taken to district hospital for medical aid here on Friday.
Out of them, five have been admitted to the hospital.
The injured accused have been identified as Vijay Patil, Praveen Pilankar, Madan Muchandi, Jyotiba Killekar, Pundalik Chavan, Suraj Patil, Sunil Kurankar, Prathamesh Tarihalkar, Nitin Balekundri and Uday Shinde.
Out of them, Vijay Patil, Pilankar, Suraj Patil, Kurankar and Tarihalkar have been admitted to hospital.
Speaking to Express, the injured persons said that after their arrest in the late hours of Sunday (August 26), police brought them on the ground near the Old Superintendent of Police office.
They alleged that police assaulted them with canes and were made to run naked.
‘’They hit us on our private parts and then poured petrol on us’’, they alleged.
According to sources, after the accused were produced before court and sent to Hindalga Jail, the doctor of the prison examined them.
Noticing the deep injuries, he immediately asked the jail authorities to send them to district hospital for treatment.
When tried to contact Superintendent of Police Sandeep Patil, he was not available.
ACP Ravi Chennanavar denied charges.
