An accountant posted in Petlavad Janpad Panchayat in Jhabua district was caught red-handed on Saturday taking a bribe of Rs 500 from a rural woman.
The accountant, identified as Ramesh Wagh was caught on the complaint of a woman, Reshma, Lokayukta's Superintendent of Police (SP) Virendra Singh, told reporters.
According to the woman's complaint, Wagh had demanded a bribe of Rs 500 from her for making identity cards of her children under 'Samagra' scheme, following which a trap was laid and he was caught red-handed. A case was registered against Wagh under Prevention of Corruption Act, he said adding further probe is on.
