In February 2004, an estimated 140 million people watched as Justin Timberlake ripped off a part of Janet Jackson's corset during their performance as part of the Superbowl. The event was being telecast live on CBS.

Later that year, in September 2004, Miss Universe Jennifer Hawkins' skirt got snagged in her shoe, causing the heavy skirt to drop at a Sydney fashion show.

The incident was captured and widely broadcast throughout the Australian and international media.

In June 2005, actor and model Negar Khan's top fell off while she was walking the runway at a fashion show in Norway. Pictures from the show were widely circulated on the Internet.

Singer Mariah Carey also reportedly had a brush with the wardrobe malfunctioning bug in July 2005. Carey's dress is said to have come undone during a performance in Germany.
