BANGALORE: The Rotary Club Bangalore in association with ICICI Prudential has launched Rotary Bangalore ICICI Prudential Dialysis Centre at the Raja Rajeshwari Medical College and Hospital in Kambipura off Mysore Road. Besides spreading awareness about diabetes, the centre will diagnose and provide ongoing medical support to patients suffering from kidney failure, belonging to lower socio economic strata, on account of being diabetic. The centre will enable diagnosis and consequent treatment through an outreach programme using mobile van cum ambulance. It also intends to provide dialysis to needy patients at negligible cost. It will provide healthcare services to around 25,000 diabetic in the area around RRMCH. Five dialysis units have been set up initially, where in close to 7,500 dialyses would be performed every year taking care of the needs of at least 2,500 pateints. "The facility will be further expanded to a total of 11 dialysis units, as a result of which about 5,000 prevalent nephropathy patients will derive the necessary benefit," said Dr Asha Khatri, the president of Rotary Club Bangalore.
