Beijing: Tired of dragging your luggage through busy airports? Take a ride on your suitcase and honk your way through!

A Chinese inventor has developed a battery-powered scooter with a suitcase which not only helps in transporting his belongings but also himself.

Amateur inventor He Liangcai from Hunan Province has even acquired a patent for this invention.

Liangcai demonstrated his suitcase scooter earlier this week, riding all the way to his home a dozen kilometres away, 'Global Times' reported.

Weighing just seven kilogrammes, Liangcai's scooter is capable of carrying two people and can travel with a speed of 20 kilometres per hour for a distance of 50 to 60 kilometres on a full charge.

Liangcai, originally a farmer, said it took him 10 years to develop the scooter that comes equipped with GPS navigation and a burglar alarm.

The vehicle consists of a stripped-down electric scooter embedded into the suitcase. The rider strides the rectangular luggage and grabs handlebars that control the throttle, breaks and lights, the report said.

Liangcai said he got the idea when he forgot his luggage on his way to accept an award for an innovative car safety system in the US.
