5 boys held for killing schoolmate

SALEM: In a shocking incident, a class XII student was murdered by his schoolmates at Thamampatti on Thursday evening. Five boys were taken into custody by the police, but arrest was not recorded as boys are minor. The victim Prashanth and accused are students of Government Boys Higher Secondary School,  Thammampatti, near Attur. It is said that the boys fought over a love affair. Sources say that Baskaran and Pravin loved the same girl. Geetha is a student of Government Girls HSS in Thammampatti. On thrusday there was an altercation between friends of Baskaran and Pravin.  Pravin’s gang entered the temple to attack an injured friend of Baskaran, Prashanth. It is said Karthic Raja pulled out an iron vel from the temple and attacked Prashanth who died.Following the incident the parents and relatives of the Prashanth sat staged a road blockade urging the police to arrest the group of boys who murdered Prashanth.
