The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) demolished as many as 34 unauthorised structures in Shastripuram at Rajendranagar here on Thursday.
The demolition came after repeated complaints by the residents of the locality about the problems faced by them due to emission of pollutants from the chemical and plastic plants that have cropped up illegally.
GHMC commissioner M T Krishna Babu ordered the demolition after his recent inspection of the the factories. As many as five JCBs, three gas cutters, six vibrators and over 100 labourers were pressed in for the demolition.
The zonal commissioner, city planner(south zone), assistant city planner (circle - 6), executive engineer, deputy executive engineer (circle 6) were also present during the demolition.
The plots demolished were plot no-476, 477, 478, 479, 480, 481, 482, 1752, 1752/A, 1752/2, 1752/3, 1748/3, 1748/4 and 469 under Circle 4; plot no 126, 516, 526 & 535 under Circle 5; plot no 451 to 454, 1079, 1819, 1820, 22 H, under Circle 12 and plot no 750, 751, 752, 753, 754, 755, 932, 771, 772, 773, 774 & 775 under Circle 9.
