Minecraft: How to Craft and Use a Smoker for Food Smelting
In Minecraft, a Smoker is a block that can smelt food twice as fast as a furnace. If you enjoy building and customization, this could add some flair to your kitchen. Here's how to make a Smoker in Minecraft on all platforms.
Crafting a Smoker to Quickly Smelt Food

Making a Smoker

Open the crafting table. This will open a 3x3 crafting grid. You'll need a Furnace and 4 of any Log, Stem, Stripped Log/Stem, Wood, Hyphae, or Stripped Wood/Hyphae. This example will use Oak Wood.

Place the materials in the grid. Be sure to place them as follows: Row 1: One Oak Wood in the middle box Row 2: One Oak Wood in the left box, one Furnace in the middle box, one Oak Wood in the right box Row 3: One Oak Wood in the middle box

Place the Smoker in your inventory. You'll see it on the right side of the crafting grid.

Smoker Usages

Food smelting. Unlike the Furnace, Smokers can only be used to smelt Food. This allows you to smelt twice as fast. To smelt food, place a food item and a fuel item into the Smoker.

Changing professions. If there's an unclaimed Smoker in a village, it can be used to change a villager's profession to butcher.

Light source. Like other Furnaces, Smokers emit light, which can help keep mobs at bay.

Lock. If you're using Java Edition, you can lock the Smoker using the /data command.

Note blocks. If you place a Smoker underneath a note block, it makes a bass drum sound.

What's your reaction?
