Manchester: Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson on Friday said that he is keen on becoming a Director at Old Trafford when he finally decides to call it a day as the Red Devils' coach. The 71-year-old United boss said that he is determined to stay at the club after previously hinting that he would step down.

Talking to reporters Ferguson said, "There's no getting rid of me. I'll probably become a Director. Nobody knows [my retirement date], neither do I. It won't be a doctor that tells me to quit!" As for his successor, he added, "They'll ask me but I think it'll be a club decision, not mine. With the structure we have here, it can't be an impossible job."

The likes of Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola have long been tipped as the Scot's replacement in the past, but the rumours about the latter were unfounded when he agreed to take up the coaching job at Bayern Munich from next season.

Ferguson on Thursday also said that he expects big things from the current crop and wants to completed a treble with them. United are coming to the business end of the season where they will face Norwich City in the Premier League on Saturday, Real Madrid in the Champions League second leg pre-quarters on Tuesday and Chelsea in the FA Cup on March 10.

Manchester United are currently 12 points ahead of Manchester City in EPL standings and held Madrid to a 1-1 draw in the first leg of their Champions League Round of 16 at Bernabeu.
