London: QPR manager Harry Redknapp has confirmed Julio Cesar will leave the club this summer, with Arsenal believed to be the front-runners for the goalkeeper's signature, according to espnfc.com.

Cesar, 33, always looked likely to seek an exit from Loftus Road after QPR were relegated to the Championship and the Brazil international is expected to search for a new club after Sunday's Confederations Cup final against Spain.

Arsenal have reportedly "opened formal talks" with Cesar as their search for a world class goalkeeper continues.

Although Roma have also shown interest in signing Cesar, the goalkeeper has made it clear he would like to remain in England.

In an interview with talkSPORT, Redknapp admitted a player of Cesar's stature is unlikely to settle for a season in the Championship and backed a "big club" to sign the shot stopper.

"Julio Cesar will move on," Redknapp said. "He's a top class goalkeeper, Brazil's No. 1. He's been in great form for Brazil and I presume there's a big club out there for him. He won't play in the Championship, he's a goalkeeper for a big club."
