Turin: After winning the Serie A title in both his seasons at Juventus, coach Antonio Conte is targeting an historic hat trick.
Juventus finished nine points ahead of second-place Napoli last season to retain the trophy but it has not won three successive league titles since 1935.
"Winning is difficult, winning again is extremely tough, doing it three times would be something historic," Conte said in his first preseason news conference on Thursday. "We know it will be extremely difficult to repeat it but we also know that if we are willing to work hard, make sacrifices and suffer we can be really ambitious and try to achieve a historical success.
"In these past two years, we have written an important page in our history. We got back to the image that Juventus have always sought. But the past counts for nothing now. We have to take on board what we have done over these past few years, but if there is no humility and sacrifice then we will not achieve a thing."
Juventus have strengthened their attack this season with the addition of Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente.
"We are trying to add in players who will help our growth, taking into account the economic crisis that is affecting everyone," Conte added. "We have still done something extraordinary because bolstering our strikeforce with Tevez and Llorente ... is an extraordinary achievement.
"The club started working with clear ideas and earlier than others."
