Capello rejects Inter link, plans to relax
Inter Milan has been touted as a possible destination for the former England coach.

Milan: Fabio Capello plans to relax rather than return to coaching in Italy after blaming a "misunderstanding" for his exit from the England job.

The Italian quit on Wednesday after being overruled by his employees at the English Football Association, who decided to strip John Terry of the captaincy due to his pending trial for alleged racial abuse of a player.

"I haven't run away. I left because there was a misunderstanding," Capello told Italy's Mediaset television in Lugano, Switzerland on Friday. "I was very happy there, but there are times when you just decide to leave."

Capello had planned to leave the England job after the European Championships in July and had insisted he would not be seeking another coaching role.

The 65-year-old Capello's view doesn't appear to have changed, despite Inter Milan being touted as a possible destination this week for the former Roma, Juventus and AC Milan coach.

Asked if he would coach again in his home country, Capello responded: "Not in Italy, absolutely not. For now, I want to relax."

Meanwhile, Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti insists he is not thinking of replacing coach Claudio Ranieri with Capello.

In an official statement on Thursday, Moratti said reports that he is thinking of replacing Ranieri "now or at the end of the season are without any basis whatsoever" and that rumours that he is considering bringing in Capello are "as unfounded."

Capello had a glittering career as a coach in Italy, guiding AC Milan, Roma and Juventus to seven Serie A titles, although the two he won with Juve were both revoked following a match-fixing scandal.
