Bigg Boss 18: Chum Darang 'Really Liked' Sidharth Shukla's Game, Says 'Uske Upar Gobar Laga Diya But...' | Exclusive
Chum Darang reveals that the only season of Bigg Boss she watched was season 13. She adds why she wants to follow Sidharth Shukla's footsteps in Bigg Boss 18.

The names of the contestants of Bigg Boss 18 were announced last night during its grand premiere. Salman Khan, who’s reprising his role as the host, unveiled the theme of this season which is ‘time ka taandav’. Much like its previous seasons, this one too promises to be yet another chapter marked with high-voltage drama. This year’s contestants include Alice Kaushik, Vivian DSena, Shilpa Shirodkar, Avinash Mishra, Karan Veer Mehra and Shehzada Dhami, among others.

Chum Darang was also announced as a participant. The actor, who has appeared in films like Badhaai Do and Gangubai Kathiawadi, is the first person from north-east India to be a part of the reality show. In an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, she reveals that the only season of Bigg Boss she followed was the one that ran in 2019-2020, which was won by late actor, Sidharth Shukla. “I haven’t been following Bigg Boss. But I keep seeing clips on reels. But I’ve watched Bigg Boss 13,” she tells us.

Talking about the ex-contestants whose footsteps she would want to follow, Chum says, “I really liked Sidharth Shukla and Shehnaaz Gill. They were sweet together. I also loved Gauahar Khan [winner of Bigg Boss 7]. But I haven’t spoken to them. I’m looking forward to them watching me in Bigg Boss 18.” However, it’s Sidharth’s game plan and strategy that she truly admires and would want to keep in mind during her stint in the show.

She states, “I’ve seen Siddharth performing tasks. Unke upar gobar laga diya but he never budged. He wanted to win and it was evident since day one. He was sure about what he wanted. He always took a stand for himself and his friends and that was really inspiring. I want to play like him. I want to be a very strong contender. I want to stand up for what’s right and voice out what’s wrong. I hope to reach far ahead in the competition.”

While a lot of TV names have transitioned to films over the years, for Chum, however, it’s the opposite. So, did she have any qualms about moving from films to TV? “I never looked at it that way. The team also asked me the same question but to be honest, I didn’t know there’s a difference between TV and films. I learnt of it very recently. I just wanted to do it because it’s interesting. The show and the platform have a big reach. I’m sure it’s going to be a very good competition,” she remarks.

Over the years, Bigg Boss has been an important stepping stone and has opened doors to bigger career opportunities for many. Quiz her if her decision to come on the show also stemmed from the anticipation of getting a push in her professional life and Chum shares, “I didn’t think much about it – whether I’ll receive more work or less work after Bigg Boss 18. It’s not like I’m not working. Two of my series are going to come out very soon. This is something extra and I’m happy about it.”
