Shital Jumbad, the daughter of a school teacher from a small town in Maharashtra, is now a Senior Software Engineer in the United States (US). She received her Bachelor of Engineering (BTech) degree from a Pune-based engineering college. Shital Jumbad pursued higher education in the United States, with no mention of the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) and the National Institutes of Technology (NIT) in her resume. Nonetheless, she has received widespread recognition for her impressive package, making a name for herself across the nation. Shital Jumbad has risen from humble beginnings to a coveted position in the tech industry, inspiring many. Let’s take a look at her journey.

Shital Jumbad completed her education in the local schools of Jalkot and Paratur. Being the daughter of Baba Saheb Jumbad, a school teacher, she shared her father’s commitment to education. Shital’s desire for excellence led her to Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) and Viswasanthi Junior College in Indevadi after she finished her schooling.

Shital then moved to Pune to pursue her BTech at Vishwakarma Institute of Technology (VIT), a well-known institution with excellent placement opportunities. Shital’s determination and diligence served as her guiding stars, unaffected by the absence of the prestigious IIT or NIT tag in her portfolio. Her academic prowess was highlighted when she aced the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) exams, gaining admission to the University of Utah.

Her hard work paid off in the second year of her Master’s degree when she was hired as a System Software Engineer in California, with an impressive annual salary of Rs 3.6 crores. Shital Jumbad’s story is particularly remarkable given that she accomplished this feat without the support of any elite Indian institutions.

Shital Jumbad’s accomplishment has made her family very proud. Her father is overjoyed with his daughter’s success. While her mother, a homemaker, is equally proud. The Jumbads have three well-educated children, including a son studying engineering at VIT Pune and a daughter in her second year of MBBS. Looks like Shital’s siblings are following in their sister’s footsteps, pursuing educational opportunities in engineering and medicine.

Shital Jumbad’s journey is a source of hope and motivation for many. Her story, which begins modestly and ends with global success, emphasises that success is not always determined by the institution one attends, but rather by grit, hard work, and a desire to outshine.
