The National Testing Agency has released the result of session 1 of JEE Main 2024 on the official website at jeemain.nta.ac.in. However, after the release of the results, some students are claiming that there is a huge difference in the estimation of their JEE Main marks and percentile. Many candidates appearing for JEE Main are calling it an “error” by NTA.
The final answer key of JEE Main Session-1 was released on February 12 and the result on February 13. After the release of the results, candidates raised questions about the difference in marks they got in the exam and percentile of JEE Main. Talking to microblogging site X (formerly Twitter), several users have said that some students got low percentile despite getting good marks in the engineering entrance exam and this may be an “error” on NTA’s part while others have asked the agency to show some “more transparency”.

Please show some transparency and sincerity with the results @NTA_Exams how you came up with the figure that the difference between two shifts for 99%ile will be 80-70 marks.. even though paper difficulty was there.. why there is imbalance between no. Recheck the percentile for jee mains 27t shift 1 ,shift 2 and 29th shift 1This is unfair for the hardworking students who got above 200 still not getting 99%ile

JEE Main 2024: Percentile Calculation Formula
To calculate their percentile, students must follow the below steps:
Percentile Score = 100 x (No. of students who secured a score equal to or less than the student) / (Total number of students who appeared in that session of a particular exam)
JEE Main 2024: Marking Scheme
For every correct answer in JEE Main, students are given four marks, while one mark is deducted for each incorrect answer. If a question remains unanswered or is marked for review, it receives no marks. If a question is dropped from the final answer key, all participants who attempted it will be granted four marks.
A total of 23 students have scored 100 percentile this session. The highest number of 100 percentile scorers is from Telangana followed by Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Andhra Pradesh. NTA will conduct the second session in April.
