A new medical college is set to grace Bihar’s Supaul district, marking a significant milestone in the region’s healthcare infrastructure. The foundation stone for the Medical College Hospital has been ceremoniously laid, heralding a new era of accessible healthcare for the people of Supaul and the surrounding Kosi region. This endeavour holds a special significance as local farmers have generously donated land for the establishment of the medical college, exemplifying a community-driven initiative.

The Bihar government has allocated a budget of Rs 603.68 crore for the construction and development of the medical college, ensuring adequate resources. With the inauguration of the medical college in Supaul, residents will no longer need to travel long distances in search of medical treatment, bringing relief and convenience to the local populace. This development has been hailed as a significant boon for the area, promising enhanced healthcare services and facilities.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, speaking on the government’s commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure, laid the foundation stone for the medical college via video conferencing. He also talked about the importance of this project for the region. The foundation stone laying ceremony, held at the local level, saw the presence of Supaul MP Dileshwar Kamat, Pipra MLA Ramvilas Kamat and other local officials.

A noteworthy aspect of this initiative is the selflessness displayed by 250 villagers of Deenapatti Panchayat, who donated their land for the construction of the medical college. In recognition of their invaluable contribution, these villagers were accorded special recognition during the foundation stone laying ceremony, highlighting the spirit of communal cooperation and solidarity.

Spanning 26 acres, the Supaul Medical College will be the 15th government medical college in Bihar, further enhancing the state’s healthcare infrastructure. The commencement of construction has elicited widespread happiness and anticipation among the local population, heralding a brighter future for healthcare delivery in the region.

With the targeted completion of construction within three years, the Supaul Medical College aims to address the healthcare needs of the populace comprehensively. Upon its completion, the medical college will offer medical education on 150 seats, providing aspiring healthcare professionals with opportunities for academic and professional growth.
