Sarfaraz Khan is among the three players India have added to their squad for the 2nd Test against England in Vizag.

Sarfaraz Khan has taken another step towards achieving his dream of playing international cricket for India after the Mumbai batter received a maiden call-up in the Test squad for the ongoing series against England at home.

Sarfaraz has played 45 first-class matches and scored 3912 runs at an average of 69.85 including 14 centuries and 11 half-centuries.

Sarfaraz, along with the uncapped Saurabh Kumar and Washington Sundar, has been added to India’s squad for the 2nd Test slated to get underway from February 2 in Visakhapatnam.

Sarfaraz seems to be leaving no stones unturned as early on Tuesday morning, he shared a picture of Mumbai’s Cross Maidan, seemingly ahead of a training session.

On Monday, soon after receiving India call-up, Sarfaraz’s father, in a clip, thanked the BCCI and selectors for showing faith in the 26-year-old.

“I would like to thank Mumbai Cricket Association, National Cricket Academy, BCCI for showing faith in him, selectors and all the well wishers. I hope he does well for the country and contributes towards team’s victory,” he said.

India are on the backfoot after suffering a stunning defeat in the Test series opener played in Hyderabad.

Despite taking a big first innings lead of 190 runs, India allowed England to bounce back and win the contest by 28 runs to take 1-0 lead in the five-match series.

A day after the Test ended, BCCI announced that the duo of Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul will sit out of from the second Test due to various injures.

Jadeja hurt his hamstring after trying to take a quick single that also resulted in his dismissal in the unsuccessful chase of 231. Rahul complained of pain in his right quadriceps.

BCCI has added the trio of Sarfaraz, Saurabh and Sundar as replacements.

After the latest injury setbacks and with Virat Kohli unavailable, it’s highly likely that either Rajat Patidar or Safaraz will end up making Test debut in Vizag considering both bat in the middle order.
