‘Junior Version of Pakistan Senior Team’: Fans React To Kids’ Cricket Match Where 10 Players Attempt A Run-Out But Still Fail

English cricket umpire Richard Kettleborough has shared a clip of a hilarious on-field mix-up on social media, attracting the attention of several fans.

For the unversed, Kettleborough is one of the most recognisable faces in the umpiring world. He had gone viral in 2023 for a decision that allowed Indian batter Virat Kohli to complete 48 ODI tons.

The Englishman has now shared a clip of a junior cricket game on X where 10 out of the team’s 11 players are attempting a run-out. The little fielders make several attempts to complete what appears to be an easy run-out but fail after botching several throws. “One in a Billion Moment in Cricket. NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE”, he wrote in the post.

The video begins with the batter named Kaartik hitting the pacer’s delivery towards mid-on. Without taking a look at the non-striker, the batter starts rushing towards the other end of the pitch to complete a single. The miscommunication leads to both batters finding themselves stranded on one side, leaving enough opportunity for an easy dismissal. However, the mid-on fielder misses the first throw towards the non-striker’s stumps. After getting the ball back, another fielder donning a white cap misses a second throw from close range. The fielders quickly recover and re-attempt another throw within split seconds but they miss the stumps once again. This time the batter gets enough time to make it back to his crease and curb the danger.

Fans have now taken the replies section by storm, talking about the hilarious moment. A user compared one of the cricketers with Shreyas Iyer. “That guy with a hat who missed the stumps with his throw seemed like Shreyas Iyer,” he wrote.

One said, “Junior version of Pakistan senior team.”

“It reminds me of the LAGAAN movie where the fielder used to run towards the ball,” added one more.

Speaking of Richard Kettleborough, the English umpire went viral in 2023 at the ICC ODI World Cup. During the match against Bangladesh, Indian batter Virat Kohli found himself closing on a 48th ODI century, batting at 97. To deny the Indian star from completing a century Nasum Ahmed sent a ball towards the leg-side for a wide. However, Kettleborough held firm with a smirk on his face and opined that it wasn’t a wide delivery. The decision led to a lot of drama on the internet as Kohli went on to complete his ton at the World Cup.

Richard Kettleborough will once again make a return to World Cup action as he is one of the more experienced names to join the proceedings in the United States and the West Indies. He will join the likes of Kumar Dharmasena, Chris Gaffaney and Joel Wilson at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
