'Doodh Mein Makkhi Padi Hai Aur...': Sidhu's Blunt Remarks on Sanju Samson Controversy, Takes Dig at Umpiring Technology
Navjot Singh Sidhu has strongly reacted to the episode, claiming that Hope had touched the boundary cushions twice but the umpires didn’t take that into account before making their final decision.

The fixture between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) has once again questioned umpiring standards in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Controversy sparked when RR skipper Sanju Samson, en route to his hundred, was given out contentiously. He pulled a Mukesh Kumar delivery for a six but holed out to Shai Hope at long off.

It was a brilliant effort from Hope near the ropes but many felt that his leg touched the boundary cushion during the attempt. The side angle of the TV replay suggested that Hope’s feet might have made contact, but a lack of conclusive evidence worked in DC’s favour. The incident resulted in a heated discussion between Sanju and the on-field officials while the RR dugout also looked disappointed by the umpire’s call.

Meanwhile, former India opener Navjot Singh Sidhu has strongly reacted to the episode, claiming that Hope had touched the boundary cushions twice but the umpires didn’t take that into account before making their final decision.

“The game changed at the dismissal of Sanju Samson. If we look at the replays side-on the foot touches the boundary twice and it’s very clear. Either you don’t use technology, but if you are using it, and if the technology errs, it’s just like doodh mein makkhi padi hui hai aur koi aapko kahe piyo. Nahi pi sakte ho aap.

“It touched the boundary line twice. And after this, if someone says that it’s out… see, I’m a neutral person, so I’ve seen it, it’s not out. That’s why I also kept saying it about Kohli (on his dismissal against KKR, which triggered controversy over potential no-ball).

“Whatever may be the rule, you can see it from the naked eye; some evidence is very strong not to believe. It’s like finding a trout in a glass of milk. The umpire didn’t do it on purpose, no one is at fault. It’s part of the game. That changed the game,” he added.

Rajasthan’s third loss this season

The Royals on Tuesday lost their third game this season. They are currently placed second on the points table with 16 points and in 12 matches. They will face CSK in their next match and finish their group stage with a game against Punjab Kings.
