3 Players Dropped From Indian Team For ODI Series Against Sri Lanka
The BCCI has announced India's squad for the upcoming ODIs against Sri Lanka, check out some of the big names that have not been picked for the three-match series.

As the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the squad that will travel to Sri Lanka for the upcoming white-ball tour, some big names have certainly missed out.

The Indian cricket team will take on Sri Lanka in a three-match ODI series that will take place at the R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo from August 2 to August 7.

Take a look at some of the big names that missed out on India’s ODI squad for the Sri Lanka series:

Ruturaj Gaikwad

The right-handed top-order batter has not had a consistent string of games in the 50-over format. He has struggled to find stability when playing in the ODI side. His last 50-over game was against South Africa at Gqeberha in 2023 but has struggled to rack up big scores.

Sanju Samson

This a very interesting omission considering that in Samson’s last ODI, he scored a match-winning century to help the Indian side reach a defendable score against the Proteas at Paarl. But now he seems to have been looked past yet again as he struggles to find any form of stability or a string of games to establish some confidence.

Ravindra Jadeja

The star Indian all-rounder has been a mainstay for the Men in Blue, particularly the one-day setup but now he seems to have missed out on a spot in the side in place of Washington Sundar. Jadeja last played a 50-over game during the ODI World Cup Final 2023 in Ahmedabad.

Mainstays in the white-ball format like Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya have not been picked in the squad. Meanwhile, the likes of Rinku Singh, Rajat Patidar and Tilak Varma who were part of the ODI Squad that toured South Africa earlier have also missed out.

Rishabh Pant will make his comeback to the 50-over side after more than one and a half years. He last made an appearance in the ODI circuit against New Zealand in Christchurch in November 2022.

ODI Squad: Rohit Sharma (C), Shubman Gill (VC), Virat Kohli, KL Rahul (WK), Rishabh Pant (WK), Shreyas Iyer, Shivam Dube, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Washington Sundar, Arshdeep Singh, Riyan Parag, Axar Patel, Khaleel Ahmed, Harshit Rana.
