To make your day even more special, we bring you the recipe of sweet somas, which is sure to be a hit this Diwali. Sweet soma is a sweet which is made with all-purpose flour and coconut filling. It is a famous Indian snack, made during Diwali. Check out the ingredients and the recipe for the sweet dish.

Recipe:

To make somas, you need one cup of all-purpose flour or maida, two tablespoon semolina or sooji, half cup of coconut, three tablespoon of ghee or oil, half cup of gram dal, half teaspoon of cardamom powder, sugar, and some salt.

How to prepare sweet somas:

In a bowl, take sooji, maida, salt and oil. Mix it with your hands till it becomes coarse and crumbly. After that, add water to it and knead, to make it into a dough. Keep it aside for half an hour.

Taking cardamom, gram dal and sugar, you have to put it in a blender; blend till it becomes a fine powder.

Then take a dry pan, heat it, and put coconut flakes into it. You have to toast the coconut till it turns light-golden. After that, add the toasted coconut in the powdered gram, and mix it well.

Coming back to the dough we made earlier, you have to divide it into small pieces of balls. Flatten or roll these balls into thin small sheets, and fill it with coconut and gram mixture. Apply water to the edges of the sheet, cover the mixture, and seal the edges. You can also use a spoon on the edges to give it a better finish.

Take oil in a pan, and heat it. Fry the prepared somas till it turns crisp and golden. Drain the oil, and it is ready to be eaten. It can also be consumed for a week if kept in an airtight container.
