AR Rahman finally reacted to the chaos that unfolded at his concert in Chennai on Sunday night. The musician held his highly anticipated concert, Marakkuma Nenjam, over the weekend and many fans were left furious after the concert was said to be oversold and many did not get entry. Many also complained of mismanagement of the crowd which led to suffocation and panic.
Although Rahman did not issue a statement about the events that unfolded, he seemingly condemned the incident by retweeting the apology issued by the organisers. Taking to X (previously known as Twitter), ACTC Events issued a statement thanking Rahman for his performance while apologising to fans who couldn’t make their way to the concert.
“Grateful to Chennai and the legendary @arrahman Sir! The incredible response, the overwhelming crowd made our show a massive success. Those who couldn’t attend on overcrowding, Our sincere apologies. We take full responsibility and accountable. We are with you. #MarakkumaNenjam,” the organisers posted. Rahman shared the post but without a comment. He then reposted a fan’s message thanking him for a memorable evening.
The fan shared a few memorable moments from the concert and said they were returning to Vancouver with happy memories. Rahman reposted the post with a folded hands emoji. He also shared a post in which concert attendees were seen enjoying the night. Check out the videos below:

The concert took place at Adityaram Palace, in the outskirts of Chennai. The official description of the event read: “It’s a grand celebration to commemorate 30 years of Rahmania! Immerse yourselves in his soul-stirring melodies & magical performances!”
However, the night did not go as per fans’ plans. Upset fans took to the social media platform to share videos and pictures of fellow disappointed AR Rahman fans and slam the musician’s team for horrible mismanagement. A fan who paid Rs 2000 for a ticket said that they couldn’t enter the venue owing to the massive crowd. “Very badly organised concert. Waste of money. Energy. Felt a huge sense of betrayal. I was feeling so stressed over good vibes because of so many fights and shit that was going around! Unfair max was No proper sound!” added another.
