Jamshedpur: Bollywood producer-director Prakash Jha has proposed to invest Rs 300 crore in Bihar and Jharkhand to set up about 40 multiplexes.
Jha told in a press conference on Thursday that the multiplexes would be set up at Patna, Hajipur, Muzaffarpur, Betia, Motihar, Bhagalpur, Gaya, Biharshariff, Ara, Sitamarhi in
Bihar and Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Dhanbad, Bokaro and Hazaribagh in Jharkhand in the next-two years.
When asked how he proposed to generate Rs 300 crore, Jha refused to divulge details.
The multiplexes would comprise of cinema theatres, entertainment zones and exclusive shops, he said.
Asked about the feasibility of the projects, particularly when hundreds of theatres had been shut down during the past five-years, he said lack of encouragement from the state government led to the closure of 232 cinema halls in Bihar.
Referring to his sugar mill in Betiah, Jha said he would invest around Rs 200 crores to set up a 5000 mt per day capacity mill.
"I support Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar only because of his positive approach towards development of the state and not because of any plans to join the JD(U)," Jha said when asked about his political aspirations.
