The Congress has confirmed that Sonia Gandhi has intervened on foreign direct investment in retail.
New Delhi: Foreign direct investment in retail could slow down which is seen as a key growth spot for the economy.
Speaking with CNN-IBN the Congress confirmed that party chief Sonia Gandhi has intervened on the subject.
Sonia Gandhi, in a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, asked for a go-slow in allowing retail giants like Wal-Mart and Carrefour entering India.
She wants FDI to be reviewed.
Commerce Minister Kamal Nath also told the TV-18 network that the PMO has asked the ministry for its comments.
He added that contrary to reports, that no application had been received yet from Wal-Mart.
