New Delhi: Industrialist Anil Ambani on Sunday issued a statement which reached out to his elder brother Mukesh Ambani by seeking a “constructive, cordial” settlement to their disputes.
“I believe all disagreements can be sorted out in a constructive, cordial manner. It can be no better gift to our mother Kokilaben in her 75th year,” said Anil in a statement issued after returning from a pilgrimage to Kedarnath and Badrinath.
“The issues are only a handful, and the facts are well known. My judgement says that they can all be resolved in a matter of weeks, and will not require several months of discussions,” said the statement issued to PTI.
Anil said he has "maintained the greatest of love, affection and respect for Mukesh over past four years have left no stone unturned to find a solution."
He hoped that his feelings would be reciprocated and sought "divine inspiration and blessings to heal the wounds with Mukesh Ambani."
“I am once again reaching out to Mukeshbhai--and hope and pray that my feelings will be reciprocated, and we will arrive at a solution to all outstanding issues, with a generous heart, a willing mind, and an accommodating spirit.”
Mukesh's group has not responded to the statement yet.
The Anil Ambani group is fighting a bitter legal battle with Reliance Industries, owned by Mukesh, for securing 28 million units of gas a day from the Krishna-Godavari basin for 17 years at $2.34 per unit. The Supreme Court will commence hearing the case from October 20.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has said that the brothers must reconcile their differences in national interest. Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and other senior government functionaries, too, have urged the brother to end their dispute.
