Not Ranbir Kapoor Or Alia Bhatt, But This Actor Is The Real Star Kid Of Indian Cinema
The most successful star kid from India has given five blockbusters over a 40-year career and also produced several hits.

Star kids are often subject to ridicule and assumptions of an easy entry into the entertainment industry due to family connections. However, there are exceptions like Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan, and Ranbir Kapoor, who have debunked these stereotypes through their remarkable talents. Yet, the one-star kid who not only defied these notions but also carved an indelible place in the hearts of viewers is none other than Raj Kapoor.

Raj Kapoor, born into the illustrious Kapoor family, entered the film industry in the 1940s as the son of Prithviraj Kapoor, a leading actor of that era. At the age of 23, Raj Kapoor made his debut as a lead actor and, by the following year, established his own production company. In 1948, he directed the popular film Aag under his production banner.

However, it was in 1949 that Raj Kapoor truly soared to prominence. At the age of 25, he delivered stellar performances in the super-hit movies Andaz and Barsaat, both of which shattered records as the highest-grossing Indian films of their time. It marked the beginning of Raj Kapoor’s illustrious career, characterized by continuous success and groundbreaking achievements.

With a filmography comprising five blockbusters, one superhit and 11 other hits, Raj Kapoor’s journey as a lead actor remains unparalleled. He reportedly held the record for the highest-grossing Indian film overseas for nearly three decades. Moreover, he stands as the only Indian actor to have three consecutive highest-grossing films at different times.

Beyond personal accomplishments, Raj Kapoor played a pivotal role in establishing the Kapoor family’s legacy in Bollywood. His success paved the way for his brothers, Shashi and Shammi Kapoor, to enter the industry. Furthermore, his two sons, Rishi and Randhir Kapoor, found success in their acting careers, followed by the next generation, including Ranbir Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, and Kareena Kapoor, all of whom have achieved stardom.

While the term ‘star kid’ often carries a negative connotation, Raj Kapoor stands out as the original and iconic star kid who not only upheld the family’s cinematic tradition but also left an indelible mark on Indian cinema, solidifying his status as the OG star kid.
