Fans of Rebel Star Prabhas were thrilled to see the much-anticipated trailer for Salaar, released on Friday. The trailer introduces us to several violent and foul-mouthed characters and the city of Khansaar, which appears to be much of where the story is set. The tone of the film has led many fans to believe that Salaar has shades of director Prashanth Neel’s debut film Ugramm as well as his claim to pan-India fame, KGF.
In a narrative reminiscent of Ugramm, the action-drama features a storyline where a protagonist endeavours to rescue his dearest friend and assists in their quest to overthrow a realm dominated by thugs. Actor Prithviraj assumes a significant supporting role, complementing the main character. Prabhas, portraying a formidable persona dubbed his ‘dinosaur mode,’ has garnered praise from his fan base. Anticipating record-breaking success at the box office, Prabhas enthusiasts assert that Salaar showcases the star in an unparalleled destructive attitude not witnessed since his iconic role in Baahubali.
Most fans think that Prashanth Neel has remade Ugramm, which was a low-budget movie, with a bigger setting and a much bigger budget. The setting of Khansaar, depicted as a powerful fortress city, guarded by armies and manned cannons is also reminiscent of the heavily guarded Kolar Gold Fields in the KGF films.
However, in a very noteworthy departure from most mass movies, the larger-than-life protagonist has been shown for a very short period. Prabhas appears in the second half of the four-minute trailer for a few seconds. Since the film is being made in two parts, many fans think that the first movie will introduce him grandly while the second part will feature him in a much bigger role. Just like the ‘Violence likes me’ dialogue from KGF Chapter 2, ‘Please I kindly request’, uttered by Prabhas at the very end of the trailer has become popular and is trending on social media.
