Taking SpiceJet or IndiGo Flight From Delhi? See Route Map Before Heading Towards T1
The route map for taking a SpiceJet or IndiGo flight from Terminal 1 of Delhi Airport has become quite tedious after the collapse of roof of the concourse area of Terminal 1 D. Know which route to take here

If you plan to travel via SpiceJet or IndiGo Airlines from Delhi in the coming days, you should check the route map before heading for Terminal One of Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport. It is possible that you may get lost in the maze of routes and eventually end up missing your flight. It is advisable to study the route map issued by Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) before leaving for the airport.

After the roof of the concourse area of Terminal 1 D collapsed a few months back, DIAL shifted all flight operations of SpiceJet and IndiGo Airlines to Terminal 2 and 3. Since the newly built Terminal 1 is now ready for flight operations, operations of both these airlines are now being shifted back to Terminal 1.

While SpiceJet will operate 13 flights from Terminal 1 from August 17, IndiGo will shift 34 flights to Terminal 1 from September 2.

What led to the convoluted route map for T1?

Since Terminal 1D is part of the Integrated Terminal 1, the traffic ramp starts from Terminal 1D, passes along the newly built terminal and descends at the G-5 building. Due to the collapse of the roof, the first four gates of Terminal 1 are closed as repair is going on. Hence, the first half of the ramp cannot be accessed.

Currently, only the last half of the ramp is available for traffic movement, owing to which traffic of IndiGo passengers is being diverted and sent to the first floor of the terminal. In addition to this, the entry of SpiceJet passengers is from the ground floor.

Hence, they will have to reach Gate A of the terminal through a different route. All these have led to confusion among passengers.

How do SpiceJet passengers reach the entry gate of Terminal One?

SpiceJet passengers have to proceed straight from the roundabout towards the ramp of Terminal 1D. Just before the ramp starts, they have to turn right towards the parking lot and take a U-turn.

After crossing the parking area, they have to turn left and then reach Gate A of Terminal 1 by moving below the ramp. The route will then lead towards Mehram Nagar outside the airport.

How do IndiGo passengers reach Terminal 1 Gates 5, 6?

IndiGo passengers have to turn right on the road next to the Metro station gate. Then they have to proceed towards Palam Police Station by moving below the ramp. After crossing Palam Police Station at the right, they have to take U-turn from the right. They will then be able to reach Gates 5 and 6 of Terminal 1 by moving up the ramp that comes in front of them. Further, this ramp will allow you to exit from the airport by turning left.
