The highly-anticipated episode of NXT returned to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. The latest event featured eight matches including two title defences as well. Wrestling fans witnessed an enticing duel as Oba Femi put his NXT North American Championship on the line against Lexis King to start the proceedings. In the second championship bout advertised for the night, NXT Women’s Champions Lyra Valkyria was set to defend her crown against Shotzi Blackheart. The latest episode of NXT also featured some tag-team action as Axiom and Nathan Frazer took on Chase U to become the number-one contender for the NXT Tag Team Championship.
Lexis King vs Oba Femi (c) – NXT North American Championship
The match started with Femi using his strength early and then dropping King with a Lariat. Femi continued to press the attack before hitting a powerbomb on King and retaining his NXT North American Championship by a pinfall.
Roxanne Perez vs Wren Sinclair
Roxanne Perez took the action to the floor early by beating Wren Sinclair down. Perez next got taken out by an elbow and a slam but was able to kick out at a two-and-a-half count. We next saw the Cobra Clutch applied as Sinclair got slammed down. Perez set up for the Pop Rox but gave up the pin to make her opponent submit with an arm-trap cross-face.
Brooks Jensen vs Josh Briggs
The match started with some clubbing blows from Briggs. After a commercial, Briggs continued with the blows before getting hit by a missile dropkick. Jensen failed to keep Briggs down as he reversed a backbody drop into a sunset flip. Finally, Briggs landed the falling lariat off the top rope to pick up a pinfall victory.
Arianna Grace vs Jacy Jayne
Arianna Jayne kicked off the match by sending Jacy Grace throat-first into the bottom rope. Grace then landed an Elbow Drop for a two-count. She then chainsaws her forearm through Jayne’s jaw. Following that move, Grace picked up a pinfall win over Jayne.
Axiom and Nathan Frazer vs Chase U – NXT Tag Team Championship Number 1 Contender’s Match
Axiom and Chase began the action in the tag team affair. Initially, there was mat grappling, followed by back-and-forth counters. After a commercial break, Frazer added a chin lock onto Chase before Duke made his way into the ring off a tag. He then landed a power slam before hitting the big corner Rock Bottom. Chase U were ultimately able to pick up a victory, thanks to a rana pin from Chase on Frazer.
Kelani Jordan vs Lash Legend
Lash Legend went after Kelani Jordan early, slamming her right out of the gate before hitting a waist lock which gets reversed into a wristlock. Legend then hit a back-to-back bow and arrow before connecting with a big splash. After trading some chops, Legend hosed her opponent up for a chokeslam, winning the match by pinfall.
Lyra Valkyria (c) vs Shotzi Blackheart – NXT Women’s Championship
Lyra Valkyria started with the waistlock takedown to ground Shotzi Blackheart who next converted a takedown into a pin but only got a two-count. After some action, Blackheart was seen coming up lame on the knee and after the break, we were informed of her injury. This led to a victory for Valkyria by the referee’s decision
Lash Legend vs Lyra Valkyria (c) – NXT Women’s Championship
The general manager of WWE NXT Ava Raine came down and issued an open challenge for Lyra Valkyria’s NXT Women’s Championship. Lash Legend accepted the challenge and went after Valkyria with a big right hand. The champion managed to counter with a dropkick and retained her title off a diving splash onto Legend.
