CM Punk Denies Rumours Associating Him With a WWE Return at Survivor Series
Despite CM Punk's ugly exit, several rumours kept surging about the wrestler making a potential return to WWE.

Former WWE wrestler CM Punk has reportedly denied negotiations with WWE and any plans of a return to Survivor Series in Chicago. Punk had left the company back in 2014 after his relationship with Vincent McMahon had soured. Despite the ugly exit, several rumours kept surging about the wrestler making a potential return ever since his departure from the company. Shortly after the rumours had begun, Fightful Select reported that WWE and Punk’s contract talks were completely false. Punk has now told people close to him that he is not working towards signing with WWE and will not be appearing at the Survivor Series pay-per-view scheduled in his hometown later this month, as per Bleacher Report. The wrestler continues to be one of the highest-profile free agents available who could significantly boost a company if signed.

CM Punk played his last WWE match in the Royal Rumble 2014 in which he was eliminated by Kane. Emerging as one of the last four at the Royal Rumble match, Punk looked like he could go on to win the battle royal. He hit both Roman Reigns and Sheamus with his signature GTS before moving to a corner. Unfortunately, Kane had different plans for the wrestler who pulled Punk out and over the top rope, eliminating him from the match and slamming him against the barricade. He then put Punk through a commentary table with a chokeslam. He has not featured for the company ever since that appearance.

CM Punk was off the pro-wrestling scene for seven years before making a return with AEW in 2021. However, the star was soon released from his contract after being involved in a backstage brawl during a pay-per-view event of the organisation at the Wembley Stadium in London, earlier this year. AEW President Tony Khan revealed during the second episode of Rampage that CM Punk had been fired from the company. The decision was made after an internal investigation was conducted in which it was discovered that CM Punk got into a physical fight with fellow AEW wrestler Jack Perry. An official statement was released by the company on X. It said that AEW’s discipline committee had made a unanimous recommendation to Khan that the wrestler should be terminated with cause after the investigation had concluded.

Despite CM Punk’s departure from the company, the fans didn’t forget their beloved superstar. AEW wrestler Danhausen revealed that Punk’s merchandise continued to be popular amongst fans even after his absence from live television. The wrestler shared a list on Instagram that showed that Punk’s merchandise sales were still amongst the top 10 in the company. The statistic seemed to have surprised the Chicago-based wrestler himself who put out an Instagram story reading, “Meeting with Phil Zacko and Jack Tunney at the China club, brother.” He also thanked Danhausen’s fans on the platform with a heartwarming message. He wrote, “Thank you Fanhausens for keeping Danhausen on this top ten list when I have been off of TV for nearly 3 months. – Love that Danhausen.”
