It was the bride who had a long-standing wish to marry in the lap of the Himalayas.

When we say destination weddings in India, places like Jaipur, Udaipur, Kerala and Jodhpur generally pop up in our minds. Nowadays, every couple dreams of having a glittery marriage ceremony as they want to make the occasion unique and memorable. Even pre-wedding photoshoots, which were not on the scene some years ago, have now become a norm in this digital era. Many couples have been seen clicking lovey-dovey pictures in picturesque locations before marriage. But now a pair from Gujarat has gone overboard with their wedding event as they tied the knot at the snow-covered Spiti Valley in the hilly state of Himachal Pradesh.

An officer of the HP Government, Ajay Banyal shared some glimpses of the unique marriage on X (formerly Twitter). As per the details provided in the caption, it was the bride who had a long-standing wish to marry in the lap of the Himalayas. However, preparing the pavilion in minus temperature might not be easy for the event planners and organisers. The event took place in the Murang Village, situated in Udaipur tehsil of Lahul and Spiti district.

The caption of the X post read, “A marriage like this too! A loving couple from Gujarat, due to the stubbornness of their girlfriend, reached Spiti and then decorated the pavilion in minus 25 degree temperature. This is a first-of-its-kind case. A unique marriage took place today (February 26) in Murang, Spiti. This is an example of a destination wedding.”

The video opens amid foggy conditions, with snow-clad mountains surrounding the valley. The bride, evidently excited, was seen posing for the photographs while coming out of a Mahindra Thar. Some relatives of the couple marked their presence at the event, decked up in warm winter clothes. They went on to cheer after the newly-wed couple shared an adorable hug following their marriage.

The post received mixed reactions from social media buffs. Some feel these sorts of social events may destroy the natural beauty of the Himalayas, while others hailed the couple for their courage to organise the marriage at an unusual location like Spiti Valley.

A user humorously assumed the bride might have got such an idea from the people of Switzerland as these types of destination weddings are quite common in the European country.

Another simply commented, “I hope they have cleared and cleaned everything after their Drama.”

A viewer slammed the couple, saying, “They are destroying the natural beauty of mountains. Unnecessary rush and pollution just for the sake of reels.”

The video has garnered more than 28,000 views on the microblogging site.
