A sweet moment was captured on camera, as rescuers spotted a cat tightly holding a car door during the rising waters and took her to safety.

The United Arab Emirates has been struggling from the intense thunderstorms, making it the heaviest rainfall ever recorded in just a few hours. The downpour triggered flash floods, causing major disruptions across the country. Highways, roads and even Dubai’s busy international airport were forced to close, while the city’s Metro stations were also flooded. On the other hand, schools were shut and many workers stayed home. Throughout the situation, emergency officials have been braving flooded streets to rescue stranded individuals. Amidst the chaos, a sweet moment was captured on camera, as rescuers spotted a cat tightly holding a car door during the rising waters. After being saved, the feline looked over the edge of the boat and observed the deep waters that surrounded the small boat.

The original footage, shared on Dubai Media Office’s Instagram story, shows a black and white cat holding the car door handle. The cat looked terrified as it was surrounded by deep water. A police officer moves through the water in a small inflatable boat, reaches the stranded animal and attempts to pull it towards safety. However, the terrified cat struggles to understand that it is being rescued from the floodwater. Eventually, the officials manage to pull the animal and place the cat into the boat before moving on with the rescue operation.

The video, posted on Instagram, quickly went viral and garnered over 1 million views. Many social media users are praising the government officials for their efforts in rescuing the cat, while others expressed concern for the well being of the feline.

Reacting to the post, a user wrote, “Poor baby is terrified.”

Another shared, “Men rescuing cats from floods gives me hope and makes me smile.”

“Poor baby, so glad they helped the kitty. So many forget about all the animals that are affected by all that is happening on this planet,” a comment read.

An individual wrote, “No matter what happens, there are always so many good people in the world.”

Another shared, “Lovely man for valuing every life.”

One more added a touch of humour and wrote, “I bet the cat owns that car, they be rich like that in Dubai.”
