Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) stumbled once more in IPL 2024, facing their second consecutive defeat as Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) clinched a 28-run victory against the struggling hosts. With this loss marking RCB’s third setback in four games, they find themselves entrenched in the ninth spot on the IPL points table.
Despite the advantage of winning the toss at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, a venue notorious for favouring chasing teams, RCB’s decision to bowl first didn’t yield desired results. Quinton de Kock’s commanding 82 and Nicholas Pooran’s explosive 42 propelled LSG to a formidable total of 181 for 5 in 20 overs. In response, RCB faltered, being bundled out for 153 in 19.4 overs.

As RCB clung to their less-than-ideal position on the points table, fans were left grappling with another disappointing performance. Naturally, social media platforms were ablaze with jests and memes, as RCB’s recurrent struggles invited a flurry of humour and commentary.

Meanwhile, despite RCB’s bowlers commendably restricting LSG from breaching the 200-run mark, their batting lineup faltered. Virat Kohli, du Plessis, and Rajat Patidar showed promise at the top order but failed to convert their starts into substantial innings. While Mahipal Lomror’s valiant 33 offered a glimmer of hope, it proved insufficient as other batsmen failed to rise to the occasion.

On the contrary, Mayank Yadav emerged as the shining star for LSG once again, surpassing his own record for the fastest delivery in the league with a blistering 156.7 kph delivery. Yadav’s impressive bowling figures of 3 for 14 in four overs played a pivotal role in LSG’s rise from sixth to fourth position on the points table. Now, with their sights set on the upcoming clash against Gujarat Titans (GT) on April 7, led by KL Rahul, LSG aims to maintain their newfound momentum.
