A common assumption among people is that predators like tigers and lions are the most dangerous and fearless animals in the jungle. Surprisingly, there is another animal that doesn’t even hesitate to attack even lions or tigers. It is not for nothing that the honey badger has earned the reputation of being the world’s most fearless animal. Despite its small size, this predator is known for its ferocious defence skills and aggressive nature. According to the Independent, the honey badger has been named the ‘world’s most fearless animal’ by the Guinness Book of World Records and can even fend off much larger predators such as lions and hyenas.
Honey badgers are not only fearless but also quite ferocious and intelligent. Its sharp teeth and nails make it even more dangerous. In recent years, the species have become extinct rapidly. In this situation, it is protected by being included in the category of extinct wild animals. However, honey badgers are often seen in the Pilibhit Tiger Reserve, Uttar Pradesh which is world-famous for its biodiversity.
Honey badgers are found across much of sub-Saharan Africa, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Western Asia. According to South African Country Life, their bodies are designed to defend themselves against predators. They have sharp claws and incredibly strong jaws, coupled with thick skin.
Recently, an extraordinary video went viral on the internet showing a pair of honey badgers just doing their job. In the video, shared on social media by Indian forest official Susanta Nanda, a pair of honey badgers can be seen taking on a pride of lions. Despite being outnumbered by far larger animals, the honey badgers were filmed winning the fight and forcing the big cats to retreat.
