Google is not only renowned for its effective and easy search results but also for its creative doodles to mark special days. As we entered February, Google released a special post to commemorate the month’s additional day due to 2024 being a leap year. Every four years, due to a discrepancy between the Earth’s orbit and the calendar year, we have 29 days in February instead of 28 days. What is more surprising is that the post has a Bollywood touch to it that will leave you in splits.
Sharing an interactive image, Google wrote, “No one: Leap year every 4 years: hello ji, kya haal chaal (Hi, how are you).” The tagline on the image reads, “Here’s to ‘leap’ing into a month with an extra day.” Hello Ji memes have been particularly popular on social media for some time now. The line is one of the hilarious dialogues from the movie Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham which starred Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol.

The creative shared by Google also shows a question and its answer written in a format representing Google’s search engine. An image of a calendar is shown in the background and the date February 29 is highlighted. The question is, “Why do we have a leap year every four years”. And the answer in form of the google search mentions, “It takes approximately 365.25 days for Earth to orbit the Sun – a solar year. We usually round the days in a calendar year to 365. To make up for the missing partial day, we add one day to our calendar approximately every four years. That is a leap year.” The result on display was from 2020 which was also a leap year.

Earlier this year, to mark the New Year, Google shared an interesting post on their social media handle. While they wished the users well, they also hinted at 2024 being a leap year. Google marked the occasion with an animated doodle, urging others to “take a leap” which hinted at the start of a leap year. The caption read, “3..2..1..It’s time to take a ‘leap’ into the next year. Happy New Year from us to you.”
