A video has gone viral on social media in which a child can be seen begging on the streets with an expensive iPhone. The onlookers were surprised to see a boy from an impoverished background carrying an iPhone, a status symbol of an opine lifestyle. Among the onlookers standing nearby, a girl stepped forward and asked the boy where he got the iPhone from. In the first instance, the child was apprehensive to answer the question but then upon much asking, he replied that it was his gadget. The woman and her friends suspected that the boy was lying and one of them persuaded his colleague to click a photograph of that child. “Photo Kheech Ladke ka (click the picture of this child)”, someone can be heard saying from behind the camera. According to Local 18 Madhya Pradesh, this clip was recorded at the Chaupati, Semaria Chowk, Satna, Madhya Pradesh. In this place, it is common for people to spot 3-4 people begging on the streets.

A similar case occurred in Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh, in January where the local police arrested five thieves. These thieves included three minors and the police recovered a stolen mobile phone from them. The police officials also recovered two-wheelers and batteries worth over Rs 2.5 lakh from the accused. As per the reports, mobile theft happened at a mobile shop in Sector 1 of the Pithampur Industrial area three days ago. Station in-charge, Santosh Dudhi had said that on January 10, burglars had stolen mobiles and accessories worth more than Rs 2 lakh from a mobile shop.

The administration verified the footage of CCTV cameras installed outside and inside the shop along with the surrounding areas. On the inspection of the cameras, the police saw the entire incident captured on camera. Based on this footage and after seeing the viral video on social media, the police started an investigation. Acting on a tip-off, the police arrested three minors along with other two thieves from their homes. The station-in-charge said that the three minors were residents of the Pachor area. As per the officer, the other accused Mushtaq is a resident of Betma. Arjun hails from Dewas.
