Films have the ability to capture the audience and entertain them with their content. It is believed that if a film has all the possible elements like romance, drama, comedy, and action, then it is a sure shot hit and can entertain the audience on a larger level. In India, many such films are made across all industries. Among all the genres of films, one of them that is becoming more and more in demand these days — it is the action genre. All the big superstars like Shah Rukh Khan, Rajinikanth, Salman Khan, and Thalapathy Vijay are focusing on doing more action films. As action films are getting a lot of hype, one question is often being posed: during car blast scenes, vehicles are shown getting blown away after just one gun shot; is it for real? Can one bullet really set a car on fire? Let’s take a look at the answer.
In action films, cars are usually seen blasting after being hit by a single bullet. Almost every action film has a scene where car blasts are shown. Usually, when the hero fires a single gunshot, the cars blast and fly in the air. It is important to note that such shots shown in films are not actually real, but they are shown in such a way that the viewer feels that they are happening in real time. When we see a hero or a villain firing a gunshot and see the car blasting, our logical brain feels that it might have hit the petrol tank, which causes it to blast. But in reality, SUVs used in films are mostly diesel powered. A diesel car does not catch fire as quickly as a petrol car. So, a car cannot catch fire with one shot.
In reality, car blasts require multiple gunshots for them to blast. What the filmmaker and action director do is show that there are multiple shots fired in reality, and it is then that the car blasts. But in the film, they strategically show only one shot, causing the blast. Nowadays, a lot of technologies like VFX, CG and camera shots make the scenes appear gigantic and action-packed.
