A 92-year-old grandmother from South Carolina, US loves to play pranks on scam callers when they wouldn’t give up their constant attempt to extract money from her. The family members lovingly call her ‘Bumma’. She casually talks nonsense to the swindlers until they give up their charade. It often acts as a pastime that gives her and her granddaughter a good laugh. With her strange conversation, the scam callers often apologise to her before disconnecting the call.
Bumma’s granddaughter, Cheyenne Toney, said that she loves messing with scammers and having a good laugh. “Bumma is 92 and lives alone with a sound mind and a great sense of humour. She gives us plenty of entertainment!” said granddaughter Cheyenne Toney. Due to this, she received a lot of spam calls on her phone. Earlier she used to get very worried. Later, she made it her source of entertainment. She often turns the tangent of the conversation through random talks and topics.
According to the New York Post, Cheyenne Toney shared a video in which Bumma asks the spam caller if he believes in god. “I think I’m going to get raptured, you know?” Bumma says with a straight face.“So I don’t need all that stuff. Jesus is coming back soon, and he’s going to take me up in the clouds with him. Are you ready to go?” says Bumma as quoted by New York Post. That’s when the scammer hung up the phone.
In another video, the caller tells her about some offers for senior citizens. To this, the grandmother laughs and says that she is not a senior citizen at all. A scammer said on the phone that one of her loved ones had been arrested after a car accident. “To release him, the bail money will have to be given. Please make the payment,” the caller said. Hearing this, the grandmother feigns hysteria and pretends to cry. “What am I going to do, lady?” Bumma says through fake sobs as Toney giggles. After the scammer tries to convince her by threatening her with jail, she starts crying loudly. In the end, the scammer gets upset and is forced to disconnect the phone.
