Sony has introduced the PlayStation Portal Remote Player in the Indian market this month. This game streaming device offers players a new way to access PS5 games remotely rather than being limited to playing on the TV. The device, designed to stream games from your PS5 console over your home Wi-Fi network, was launched in the US and globally last year.
The PlayStation Portal boasts an 8-inch LCD display capable of 1080p resolution and 60fps gameplay, providing a high-fidelity visual experience. It also sports DualSense wireless controller features like adaptive triggers and haptic feedback in supported games.
In its announcement, Sony stated, “Play your PS5 console over your home Wi-Fi with console quality controls using PlayStation Portal Remote Player. Put your game collection on PS5 in the palm of your hand—the PlayStation Portal Remote Player can play compatible games you have installed on your console without needing to play on a TV.”

The PlayStation Portal remote player is priced at Rs 18,990 in the Indian market. The handheld device is now available across offline and online platforms in the country.

The remote player streams compatible games installed on your PS5 console to the PlayStation Portal. As mentioned above, the device features DualSense, such as haptic feedback and adaptive triggers in supported games for immersive gameplay. The PlayStation Portal remote player comes with an eight-inch LCD display with 1920×1080 pixels resolution and a 60Hz refresh rate for smooth visuals.
The device is capable of running PS4 and PS5 games installed on Sony's current-gen console at up to 60 fps in full HD resolution. The screen also comes with touch-enabled zones on the left and right sides.
The handheld is designed for seamless and quick connection to your PS5 console for immediate gaming. To set up Remote Play, players must first turn on their PS5 console to the internet, powered on or in Rest Mode, and a PlayStation Network account is required.
Connectivity options on the PlayStation Portal include a USB Type-C port for charging, Sony’s proprietary PS Link feature, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a minimum of 5Mbps Wi-Fi connection is needed, with 15Mbps for optimal performance.
