Samsung’s first smart ring is launching soon, and reports hint the new device might be as costly as the Apple Watch. That’s not all, the company could even charge a subscription fee over the cost of the device which is basically Samsung’s way of making more and recurring money for the product.
The report comes via tipster Yogesh Brar who has a track record of coming in accurate details before. He pointed out that the Samsung Galaxy Ring will be launching at around $300 to $350 (Rs 27,000 approx) while the smart Ring from Samsung will be priced close to Rs 35,000 in the Indian market.
Samsung Galaxy Ring Features – Possible Apple Watch Alternative?
At these prices, Samsung clearly seems confident about the new product and its demand in the market which is still growing and catching up with the basic trends of health gadgets. But the expenses on the Galaxy Ring won’t end with your purchase, as the tipster claims Samsung will also have a $10 per month subscription which is likely to offer varied health programs and meal chart systems via the Samsung Health app.
However, he doesn’t know if Samsung will have this program as a mandatory part of the device or just an additional resource for people who are really invested in the health ecosystem. Having a subscription won’t be a first in the health segment. The likes of Fitbit, and even Apple Fitness+ have a similar model for their respective device.
Samsung will need to be a lot more convincing with the Galaxy Ring if the rumoured prices are true. The $10 monthly service will need more feature additions, including a possible live coach ecosystem, something that a brand like Healthymefy has shown earlier.
Either way, the launch of Samsung’s ring is still a few months away, with reports suggesting the next Galaxy Unpacked launch event will have the new foldables and the Ring as well, might take place sometime in July where these feature-rich products could be unveiled.
