New Delhi: Micromax has unveiled which it claims (at 5.1 mm) is the "world's slimmest smartphone". While we have phones from Vivo and Oppo slimmer than Micromax's new handset, the company says the new phone has, unlike the other slim phones available in the market, an end-to-end thickness of 5.1 mm. This means that the phone has no bumps and maintains the same thickness from one edge to the other.
Priced at Rs 17,999, the phone an AMOLED HD screen and is 4G compatible. Weighing 97 grams, the phone has a metallic rim made out of aircraft grade aluminium.
Its 8 megapixel autofocus rear camera has a Sony IMX219 sensor and a Blue Glass filter. The Sony sensor used by the company is a stacked CMOS sensor that is claimed to consume relatively less power.
This handset is powered by a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor coupled with 2GB of RAM. It has an internal storage space of 16 GB.
The Canvas Sliver 5 has a 2000mAh battery and runs Android Lollipop. It comes in Black and Gold colours.
The company also announced a new service policy for the Canvas Sliver 5 - a door-step phone service. In case of services for the Sliver 5, users can go to the Web or make a call to lodge a complaint. The device will be collected from your home or office and will be delivered back within 7 days.
